Two Pre-Doc positions are available in the Wanninger Lab at the Department of Evolutionary Biology. Both positions are replacements due to maternity leave and terminate once the current holder of the position resumes work.

Both positions will be integrated in current projects on vermitid gastropods where we apply morphological, molecular, and bioinformatic tools to decode their development.You will work in a team of dedicated evolutionary biologists with supreme in-house facilities in our new University Biology Building (UBB). You will receive expert training in a broad range of state-of-the-art techniques that will benefit you for a future career within and outside of academia.

 

Both positions are open immediately, and we strive towards employing the successful candidates as soon as possible.


This is part of your personality:

 

  • MSc degree or equivalent in Biology or a related field.

  • Good written and oral English skills and ability to present scientific research.

  • Ability and willingness to work in an international and multicultural team.

  • Experience in either morphological (e.g., electron microscopy, fluorescence labeling), molecular (DNA/RNA extraction, in situ hybridisation) or bioinformatic (e.g., genome/transcriptome assembly) applications.

  • Experience with handling of small invertebrates is an advantage but not a requirement.
