This internship will run from Jan 1 - June 30, 2024 (may go into part of July 2024) with a six-month commitment. We are flexible on how many hours per week the intern is able to work but an average of 10 hours per week is required for the full six months. Some weeks could require 15 hours or so while others may be considerably less; our interns have to be flexible and plan accordingly. Interns will be writing approximately six news stories; more or less, depending on progress.
Submit your resume, cover letter and a writing sample from a journal and/or blog article that speaks to your ability to write compellingly for a general audience. If you do not have a writing sample, you may write a short article from one of the three topics below in order to demonstrate your writing ability. (600 words max).
Imagine, as you write this story, that you are explaining the topic to a friend who is new to the topic without a strong science background. The idea is to communicate the essence of the paper without getting lost in jargon, statistics, or methodology, but without oversimplifying.
